The DataSwitch Model 500 Continuity Tester is design to test membrane switches rapidly and accurately for opens, shorts, and high resistance. This tester is entirely self-pinning; no programming is needed. The Model 500 tests up to 25 traces.
STANDARD FEATURES OF MODEL 500 CONTINUITY TESTER• LED Testing: Lights switch-mounted LEDs to check for good or bad functions. Polarity can be determined by watching the LED panel.
• High Resistance ('Hi-R') Test: Checks dielectric cross-overs by increasing sensitivity of the tester to 10 Megohms while testing for current leakage between conductors.
• Test Head Connector Box: provides the 3 connectors necessary to interface with different types of tail terminations: solder tabs, receptacles, and connectorless tails. Connector styles may vary. The test head is connected to a header on the front of your membrane switch tester with a ribbon cable.
PURCHASE OF MODEL 500 CONTINUITY TESTER INCLUDES
• For tails of up to 25 trace lines
• One Membrane Switch Tester
• One 25-Pin Test Head
• One 25-Pin Ribbon Cable
• One 12-VDC Power Supply
• One Year Warranty
PRODUCT ACCESSORIES FOR MODEL 500 CONTINUITY TESTER
• Connector Adapter Board: Can be used in place of the test head to save wear on the right angle header, which is used for receptacles.
• Test Clamp Fixture: Can be used for testing connectorless tails. It attaches to your membrane switch tester by using the 25 pin ribbon cable.
AVAILABLE OPTIONS FOR MODEL 500 CONTINUITY TESTER
• Dual Range Switch: Adds a second test range to allow testing of membrane switches with loop resistance of 0-30,000 Ohms.
• Reverse Polarity Function: Tests LEDs wired in either a common cathode or a common anode configuration.
• Volume and Tone Control: Helps differentiate between tones when more than one membrane switch tester is in use. Earphone Capability increases operator's listening comfort and awareness while silencing room noise. An earphone jack is installed on the back of the membrane switch tester.

DataSwitch Continuity Testers deliver the speed and ease of use required for a production-line environment, plus the versatility and accuracy needed for engineering research.
The DataSwitch Life Cycle Tester will test switch keys individually at a rate of one million strokes in approximately 48 hours. The switch is placed under an electrical load of 5 Milliamps DC, and is checked twice during each test cycle: once for resistance level during the 'down' stroke, and once for shorts during the 'up' stroke. Dual counters store the number of good cycles as well as the number of bad cycles (or misses).
The DataSwitch Contact Bounce Tester measures both make and break contact bounce times on any switch with reliability and accuracy beyond that of an oscilloscope. This tester measures and displays bounce times from 0.01 milliseconds to 99.9 milliseconds. Longer bounce times are indicated by an error light.
The DataSwitch LED Tester accurately tests embedded LEDs for function and correct polarity with minimal set-up time. It will handle membrane switches with tails of up to 25 trace lines.
